The Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has announced plans to convert the Yameriga E-Block into a Training College, in a bold move to address the educational needs of the Talensi District.
During a dubar with the youth and people of Talensi as part of his Upper East Regional campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia revealed that the facility, which was initiated under the previous administration, will be repurposed to meet the community’s pressing need for a training college.
“I know that in Talensi here, you need a training college,” Dr. Bawumia acknowledged.
“We are completing the E-block at Yameriga, and under my presidency, we will do a specialized training college at that facility and expand it,” he added.
This announcement comes amidst controversy surrounding the completion of Community Day Senior High Schools, commonly known as E-Blocks, across the country.
Critics argue that many of these facilities were constructed far from the communities they were intended to serve.
By converting the Yameriga E-Block into a Training College, the NPP government aims to provide the people of Talensi with access to specialized training and skills development, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to the region’s economic growth.
Dr. Bawumia noted that, his commitment to education and skills development is a key pillar of his presidential campaign, and this announcement is expected to resonate with the youth and people of Talensi, who have been clamoring for a training college in the area.
