Liberty Football Club from Zebila in the Bawku West district of the upper East Region made a trip to Bolgatanga, the Capital of Upper East Region to play a friendly match against Tangha Sporting Club.
The said fixture took place at the Sawaaba park, the training grounds of Tangha sporting club with a lot of expectations from the fans of Tangha SC, the home team.
The match started very well with individual skills being exhibited from both sides.
Amalba Kelvin and Abdul Jalil scored for Liberty football club while Azuma Perry and Amgood also scored for Tangha sporting club to end match in a 2-2 draw.
Speaking before the presentation of football and set of bibs to Liberty football club, Coach Salifu Fatawu, who’s the Director of Tangha sporting club and the Assistant coach for the U-20 advised the players from both sides to take their education seriously, adding that those, who had the opportunity to be selected among hundreds of players to be part of the GFA elite Academy, must utilize the opportunity very well to pave way for others to join the Academy.
Salifu Fatawu, who is also head of scouts for junior national Teams, said those in the Academy are close to playing for the junior National Teams and gaining recognition from the scouts if only they work hard.
The coach of Liberty football club , Mr Awoga Francis Azuma acknowledged the numerous support they had from coach Salifu Fatawu, saying that, for past years, they have been receiving Sports equipment like football, cones, bibs and a lot from Salifu Fatawu.
Captain of the Team praised his colleagues for an excellent performance against a team like Tangha sporting club though their supporters were not around to cheer them up.
On boxing Day, David Atanga, who plays for WOLFSBERGER AC in Austria but on holidays collaborated with his Coach and Mentor, Coach Fatawu salifu to Organize a couple of friendly matches for the junior team of Tangha sporting club, their first match was against Mboma city which ended in a 1-1 draw game far away in Navrongo.
