Former Member of Parliament for the Zebilla Constituency, Cletus Apul Avoka has recaptured the Zebilla seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Mr. Cletus Avoka defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency and the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Frank Fuseini Adongo in the Parliamentary Election securing the nod, once again, to represent the people of the Constituency.

He pulled 33,616 votes beating the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate who only managed 15,997.

His return to parliament will be his sixth time of representing his constituents in the National Assembly.

Mr. Cletus Avoka who had avowed to retire after the 2016 Elections staged a comeback to the Parliamentary race after he was defeated in the 2016 election by the Deputy Upper East Regional Minister.

His comeback drew criticism from a section of the public particularly political watchers who argued that his five-year terms as an MP was enough for him to relinquish the seat.

But in a victory speech after he was declared winner of the party’s primaries, Mr. Avoka said his loss in the 2016 was a mistake which he needed to correct hence, his comeback to the Parliamentary race.

Cletus Apul Avoka is one of the longest serving Members of Parliament in the country’s history reason he is christened the “Zebilla Mugabe”.
