A Catholic Priest, Gabriel Atidoo has called on Christians all over the world to desist from engaging in activities that will destroy the lives of others. This he said leads to people drifting away from God.
The Priest who was speaking at a Festival of Nine lessons and Carols organized by the Upper East Regional directorate of the Food and Drugs Authority ahead of this year’s Christmas which marks the birth of Christ noted that the human race since time in memorial has always fallen short of the glory of God as he makes reference to the story of the fall of man in Genesis chapter 3.
He said despite the shortfalls of mankind, God continues to draw humanity closer to himself.
“As we sit, often it is very easy to ask other people are you safe or I’m born again. I’m born again by baptism but the reality of life is that I keep pulling myself away from God when I hurt other people because hurting other people is not part of God’s plan. When I keep on doing things that will destroy other people’s lives, I am pulling myself away from God. But the good news is that God never pulls himself away from us”.
Rev Father Atidoo Continued “He keeps pulling us back and that is why, as we prepare for Christmas, in the church, the readings that prepare us in the liturgy for this, draw our attention that we must constantly come back to God because God is constantly pulling himself back to us”.
The Festival of Nine lessons and Carols was the maiden event organized by the FDA in the region.
