Member of Parliament for the Bawku Central Constituency Mahama Ayariga, has admitted that the previous government of the National Democratic Congress fell short in the area of providing sufficient opportunities and support for the youth of the country.
The NDC MP informed youth in the Kasena Nankana Area of the Upper East Region that the National Democratic Congress has learnt its lesson on how it handled issues relating to youth development during the party’s previous tenure.
According to Mr. Ayariga, former President John Mahama will not repeat the mistakes he committed against the youth of the country and that his second term will be devoted to creating jobs, skills and opportunities for the them.
Speaking at a durbar of Chiefs at Sirigu in the Upper East Region, the former Deputy Minister of Education assured that “The mistakes made in relation to the youth of this country will not be repeated. We want to assure you that the second term of President John Dramani Mahama is going to be devoted to the welfare of the youth of this country.
The second term of John Mahama is going to be devoted to the training, skills acquisition and the welfare of these young people who have dropped out of school through the provision of skills training so that they can have jobs, they can establish their businesses and can do better for themselves and their families”.
He therefore encouraged the young people of the area to vote massively for the National Democratic Congress and John Dramani Mahama at the 2020 elections.
The durbar was part of a two-day campaign tour of the Upper East region by the flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama.
