Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has appealed to security agencies in his constituency to not be highhanded as they search for suspected secessionists in his constituency, conceding that even though he knows their task is difficult, he trusts that the security agencies can exhibit a high sense of professionalism going forward.

Mr Okudzeto Ablakwa revealed that some parts of his constituency have been deserted because of the fear of the use of excessive force by security agencies trying to fish out miscreants involved in the recent alleged secessionists attacks in the Region.

“There is considerable anxiety. Large sections of the constituency have been deserted…People are in flight because of the extensive security search that is going on. We have said that we remain friends of the security apparatus and that they are welcome to our constituency. So that if these miscreants are still hiding anywhere, they should be identified, picked up. They should be apprehended. They should be dealt with according to the law.

What we will appeal for however is that these security operations should be done with a human face,” he appealed.

Mr Ablakwa added that he had personally seen the use of excessive force by the security agencies, but was confident that the agencies were capable of reverting to the professionalism they are known acclaimed worldwide for.

He then appealed to them to work to forestall or foil the attacks rather than react after the secessionists strike.

Mr Ablakwa was reacting to the latest attacks allegedly carried out by the secessionists on the STC Terminal in Ho. The secessionists allegedly beat up the drivers and set a bus alight.
