Former leader John Dramani Mahama says corruption has become pervasive under his successor’s regime.
According Mr. Mahama, who is running for the presidency again, Ghana is witnessing the highest form of corruption in its history under the Akufo-Addo administration.
“We have the highest corruption in the history of Ghana. This is the worst time to be a Ghanaian”.
The former leader said this during his #BuildingGhanaTour in the Bono Region.
He bemoaned that every sector of the economy has deteriorated due to what, he believes, is the mismanagement by the Akufo-Addo led government.
He said contrary to the mouth-watering promises by Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP prior to winning the 2016 elections, they have driven the country into a ditch and impoverished Ghanaians in their close to 7 years in office.
He added that despite failing in their first term in office, they had created the impression that they achieved a much and got Ghanaians to retain them for another term.
“How did we come to this crossroad? It was just because of the wrong decision we made. It was all slogans; 1D1F, $1m per constituency per year, 1V1D and then in 2020, 4 more to do more when they hadn’t even done anything, they gave the impression that they had so much that they want to do more. And so Ghanaians voted for them again”.
Labelling the NPP and its campaign promises as the worst scam in the history of politics in Africa, Mr. Mahama said, “It is only now the blinkards on our eyes, the scales on eyes have fallen off and we can see that this has been the worst political scam in the history of politics not only in Ghana but the whole of Africa”.
