President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said his party will reclaim all parliamentary seats they have lost to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Addressing supporters at the headquarters of the New Patriotic Party, president Akufo-Addo assured supporters of the party’s resolve to win back all the seats the NDC snatched from them in the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

While expressing gratitude to the teeming supporters of the party, he appealed to them to continue  supporting the party and his government in order to achieve their pledges and secure another term in the next election.

“I’m here to express my gratitude to you all. I know that you have tolled for this victory. We are going to work hard as government to better the life of every Ghanaian so continues to support us. We have to deliver so that after my tenure, I can hand over to another NPP government,” he said.

“We will reclaim all the seats that the NDC has snatched from us. It will take hard work to reclaim them and we will start working towards that,” he told cheering party’s supporters.

This comes after the Electoral Commission (EC) declared the president as winner of the 2020 presidential election.

Nana Akufo-Addo who is the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polled 6,730,413 representing 51.595 to beat his main contender, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who polled 6,214,889 representing 47.366 percent.

Chairperson of the EC, Jean Adukwei Mensa, who is the Returning Officer of the presidential election, while announcing the outcome of the election disclosed that the declared results excluded that of  the Techiman South Constituency which was being contested.

But the results from the outstanding Constituency, she noted, will not affect the outcome of the presidential election a was announced.

The NPP has, however, lost a number of parliamentary seats to the opposition NDC.

At least, 33 incumbent NPP MPs lost their seats to candidates of the NDC in Monday’s General Elections.
