Newly selected Majority Leader of Parliament Mahama Ayariga has reiterated that the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC’s) Caucus will not abuse its dominance in the National Assembly.
He said despite the overwhelming majority the party has in Parliament, its Caucus, which he leads, we strive for inclusivity and consensus building in conducting the business of the house as well as keenly espouse the principles of probity and accountability as championed by the NDC’s founding fathers.
“Even though we are an overwhelming majority, we will strive for inclusivity, consensus building and deeply uphold the principles of probity and accountability in the fulfillment of the dreams of our founding fathers.”
The Bawku Central Member of Parliament is also pledging to pursue an agenda that will reset the country and foster unity as well as strengthen the country’s democracy and ensure equitable development.
Mahama Ayariga said this in statement accepting his selection as Leader of the NDC’s Majority Caucus in Parliament.
While thanking the President, the NDC leadership and his constituents for reposing confidence in him, he said he will be guided by the leadership styles of his predecessors, who, he stated, distinguished themselves and set “illustrious precedents” serving in that capacity.
He acknowledged that, “the road will not be without challenges, but I am confident that together, through constructive dialogue and mutual respect, we can overcome any obstacles and deliver on our collective vision”.
“Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to the people of Ghana,” he urges his colleague MPs. “Their trust must inspire our actions and guide our decisions. It is for them that we will build a prosperous, united, and democratic Ghana.”
