The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, has declared that the next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will remove John Dramani Mahama from the presidency if he wins the 2024 general elections and decides to implement a plan to sell phones to Ghanaians as a solution to unemployment.

Speaking at the party’s National Campaign Launch in the Northern Regional capital, Tamale, Adongo emphasized that the party’s next government will introduce a revolutionary 24-hour economy policy that will significantly transform infrastructure and economic endeavors across the board.

He believes this policy is a game-changer that will provide jobs for Ghana’s teeming unemployed youth.

“If we see you [John Dramani Mahama] at ‘Tiptoe Lane’ selling mobile phones to our teeming unemployed youth as a solution to youth unemployment, we will remove you from the presidency,” Adongo declared.

His statement was a response to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s plan to make smartphones more accessible to Ghanaians through a credit-based system, as part of his digital exclusivity agenda.

Adongo dismissed this approach as inadequate, warning that if Mahama adopts a similar strategy, the NDC will remove him from the presidency.

The party’s 24-hour economy plan, Mr. Adongo noted, is designed to stimulate economic activity, create jobs, and increase productivity, as he said Bawumia’s idea fails to address the root causes of unemployment.
