National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram Constituency, Sam George has taken a swipe at top musicians who have endorsed the candidature of President Akufo-Addo in the December presidential Elections.
In a social media post, Mr. Sam George who described endorsements of the president by top musicians including Sarkodie and Samini as funny urged supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to be moved by such endorsements.
According to the Ningo-Prampram legislator, although the works of the musicians may be loved and appreciated by a wider section of the public, their political choices cannot be trusted.
He alleged that the musicians are paid an amount of 500,000 cedis to make such political choices and endorsements hence, their campaign messages should be disregarded.
“Don’t be swayed by any funny endorsements people. We may love their music and groove to it but we don’t trust their political choices especially when they are worth GH500,000,” he stated.
Mr. Sam George’s remarks comes at the back of latest endorsement of the re-election bid of the president by two of the country’s top musicians, Samini and Sarkodie.
In a song titled “Happy Day” which has contribution from the reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, Kuami Eugene, rapper Sarkodie justified his decision to endorse the president for a second term in office ahead of the December Elections.
In his assertion, unlike the erstwhile Mahama’s administration which was bedeviled with frequent power outages and high inflation, the Akufo-Addo administration has improved the economic conditions of Ghanaians and ensured a constant power supply. He added that policies such as the Free Senior High School Programme implemented by the current administration has made life comforting for Ghanaians.
He therefore is left no choice but to support the president’s campaign to be re-elected for the continuation of good governance.
High Grade Family, Samini has also released a song titled “Kpoyaka” detailing what in his view is the incredible performance of the Akufo-Addo’s administration and urging Ghanaians to retain the president in office for another four years.
