The Upper East Regional Minister, Dr, Hafiz Bin Salih, in his address at the International Nurses Day celebration in Pusu-Namongo, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to restoring peace in Bawku.
The conflict, which has plagued the area for far too long, has not only claimed countless lives but also left a trail of destruction and despair in its wake.
The Minister, who assumed office barely a month ago acknowledged the immense challenges facing the region.
He emphasized that his administration is dedicated to finding a lasting solution to the conflict, which has given the Upper East region a bad name.
He said, he is deeply concerned about the impact of the Bawku Conflict on the people of the area, the healthcare system, and the region as a whole.
The Minister’s pledge was met with applause from the gathering of nurses and midwives, who have firsthand experience with the devastating effects of the conflict on healthcare delivery.
They welcomed the Minister’s commitment, recognizing that peace is essential for providing quality healthcare services.
The Minister’s address also highlighted the importance of collaboration and support from all stakeholders in achieving peace.
He said, “I have come here barely a month ago and I need your support and corporations. You are talking about your profession but we can only operate in an arena of peace”
“The Upper East region is bedevilled with so many problems particularly the Bawku Conflict that has given the upper east region a bad name. I’m committed to ensuring that, normalcy returns to Bawku”. He reaffirmed.
