The Upper East Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Samuel K. Boakye-Boateng, has urged nurses and midwives in the region to avoid indecent dressing in their line of duty.
He made this call during the 2024 International Nurses Day celebration at Pusu-Namongo in the Upper East Region.
Dr. Boakye-Boateng expressed concern over the growing trend of indecent dressing among health workers, particularly nurses, which he believes is unprofessional and contrary to the values of their profession.
He reminded them that “The GHS core values emphasize professionalism, patient-centered care, discipline, teamwork, innovation, excellence, and integrity”.
The Regional Director emphasized that professionalism in nursing requires providing high-quality care to patients while upholding accountability, respect, and dignity.
He encouraged nurses and midwives to wear their prescribed uniforms with pride and show respect to patients, relatives, and other health staff at all times.
Dr. Boakye-Boateng also cautioned against the misuse of social media, which he believes is inconsistent with the noble profession of nursing, while he urged nurses and midwives to desist from such practices and uphold the values of their profession.
