Some major roads linking several communities in the Bongo District to Bolgatanga have been severed following heavy downpour in the Upper East region.
Commuters from communities including Nyariga, Zorkor, and Sirigu endured the danger of accessing some major roads which have been completely immersed in water.
The Upper East region in the past few days has experienced heavy rainfall, causing a significant rise in the level of water in major rivers and streams. The situation according to the National Disaster Management Organization has been compounded by the spillage of the Bagre Dam which is still underway.
Several farm lands have also been flooded.
Some commuters from Zorko who spoke in an interview with Bolganews.com said the flooding situation has prevented them from being able to cart their goods to the Bolgatanga market for sale.
In a video seen by dreamzfmonline.com, road users are spotted forcefully pushing their motorbikes and bicycles through the deep but calm waters while others are carried on canoes to enable them access their destinations.
The residents say the flooding situation which impedes road access has been a major challenge which occurs annually.
Meanwhile, spillways for the Vea Dam in the Bongo District have also been overwhelmed by heavy water flow leading to a disconnection of some communities within the enclave.
