DR BORKETEY HANDING OVER ITEMS TO CHILDREN'S HOME

Chief Executive Officer of Charger Ltd, producers of Happyman Bitters and Plus 1 beverages Dr Emmanuel Bortey Borketey has made donations to three identified disadvantaged groups in the Upper East Region.

The philanthropic gesture which benefited 80 persons was done to mark his birthday which fell on the 23rd of June.

According to Dr Borketey, the decision to reach out and support the needy groups was born out of his desire to give back to society and appreciate God’s blessings to him on the occasion of his birthday.

The donation exercise also marked the birth of Happyman Foundation, a Corporate Social Responsibilities wing of Charger Ltd.

Two Children’s Homes namely God’s Love Residential Home in Soe in the Bolgatanga Municipality and Timataaba Children’s Home in Talensi District of the Upper East Region received Foodstuff, Toiletries, Detergents, Clothing, Books, Drinks amongst many others.

Both Children’s Homes were given additional cash amount of Ghc 1000 and Ghc 2000 respectively to cater for their utilities and other cost with a pledge of personal monthly cash support of Ghc 1000 to the God’s Love Children’s Home for the next one year by the CEO.

Also, 30 needy Widows sourced from various communities in the region through the Widows and Orphans Movement (WOM) were gifted 25kg bags of rice each, oil, soap and other assorted items with total cash amount of Ghc 6,000.

Addressing the gathering during the donation exercise, Dr Borketey disclosed that the birthday philanthropic gesture amounted to a total of Ghc 56,000.00.

“I’m doing this because I believe that these children here need these items and whatever we are giving them. As long as God continues to give us life and bless us, we shall continue to give such support,” he said.

Dr Borketey explained that his relationship with the Upper East Region has strengthened since the introduction of the company’s products in the region in 2015.

He added that though Charger Ltd sponsors and supports sporting and entertainment activities in other regions including the Ashanti, Volta and Greater Accra Regions, much impact is noticed in the Upper East Region.

Dr Borketey climaxed the birthday celebration with a dinner meeting with media practitioners in the region.
