Chairman of Narrative Changers George Solomon Gbenka has expressed dissatisfaction with former Upper East Regional Minister Stephen Mahamudu Yakubu over his inability to see to the completion of the passport office construction.

Work on the project commenced about 2 years ago but has since stalled.

Solomon Gbenka blames the Regional Minister for failing to press the contractor to complete it.

He complained that the contractor has not shown any committed to completing the project since it was awarded to it.

Stephen Yakubu, who was supposed to supervise the office construction, he said, watched unconcerned while the contractor laze about, leaving it abandoned.

This, he added, is despite the fact that the project was under the nose of the former regional minister.

“What most of us are not so pleased with him is a project right in front of his office and for 3 years, the contractor has been lazing with the project and that’s the passport office,” he stated.

“The passport office is situated right in front of his office. Everyday he is going to work, the first thing he sees before getting to his office is the passport office and it’s unfortunate he has not been able to complete it”.

He is, however, hopeful that the new Regional Minister will ensure the office construction is completed.

Solomon Gbenka was assessing the performance of Stephen Yakubu as the Upper East Regional in an interview on Breakfast News.

He scored Mr. Yakubu perfect for his punctuality to events and his availability to the calls of resident.

While lauding his ability to mobilize resources for specific cause of action, he noted that though the former regional minister led a successful fundraising for the national cathedral project, he failed to do same with regards to the planned dialysis treatment centre setup.

“He was able to raise monies with the districts and they presented for the building of the cathedral. In one way, he did very well when it comes to that.

But a similar project at the Regional Hospital where we needed to set up this dialysis centre and most of the districts actually pledged and as I talk to you, the last time I had an update from the one in charge, I think most of the districts have not paid what they pledge”.
