PRESIDENT OF JUSAG, SAMUEL AFOTEY OTU

Formed in 1973 in Cape Coast, capital of the Central Region, the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG), is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

As part of the anniversary, a series of activities are to be held at regional and national levels including the official launch of the anniversary, which took place earlier in February 2024 with other regional activities so far held in the Ashanti Region, Bono and Ahafo Regions. The latest region to mark the anniversary with various activities is the Upper East Region.

On Saturday, July 13, the Upper East Regional branch of JUSAG held fun games at the Children’s Park in Bolgatanga, which saw them play football and volleyball games against the Ghana Police Service.

Other games included ludu, oware, and cards with the members later wrapping up the day’s activities with a buffet.

The association in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service also had participants screened for various conditions including breast cancer, High Blood Pressure, and Sugar level.

The regional celebration, which brought together court registrars, recorders, interpreters, clerks, administrators, secretaries, and others precedes the national event to be held in August in the Central Region.

Speaking to Dreamz News on the sidelines of the fun games and buffet over the weekend, the National President of JUSAG, Samuel Afotey Otu, urged members of the association to conduct themselves professionally as the country prepares for a major election.

He adds that members of the association should be guided by their code of ethics at all times.

“I remind our members to be careful, and conduct themselves well. We have our code of ethics and we want them to go by it and be professional at all times. At the end of the day, we need peaceful elections and members of JUSAG should stay away from anything that will muddy the waters.” The National President stressed.

Some members of the association expressed excitement over the hosting of the regional games as they commended the national leaders for decentralizing the anniversary activities.

Donatus Akazebre Adongo, a Court Interpreter described the event as exciting and highly commendable. “We have exercised, we have checked our health, we have eaten and we’re delighted that we can engage in activities outside the court.” He said.
