The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is accusing government of enlisting projects constructed by NDC administration and Members of Parliament as well as NGOs on the Performance Tracker and claiming ownership.
Government, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, launched the Performance Tracker, listing projects, programs and policies it implemented since it assumed office in a bid to account to the people.
About 13,000 projects had been uploaded onto the database system and government said more will be uploaded in the coming days.
But the NDC says its assessment of the tracker reveals that government has enlisted on the database system projects executed by NDC’s government and MPs as well as NGOs, claiming ownership.
We take a look at some of the projects the main opposition party alleges government has laid claim to though they were constructed by MPs, NGOs and previous governments.
CHPS Compound at Tindonsobligo
This facility, according to the Upper East Regional Communications Officer of the NDC Abdallah Jonathan Salifu, was constructed by former Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency on the ticket of the NDC Akolbire Opam-Brown. He argued that although the current government has added a delivery facility to it, it is misleading to enlist the entire CHPs compound as one executed by this government.
Police Station at Sherigu
A police station constructed at Sirigu in the Bolgatanga Municipality is one of the projects in contention. Abdallah Jonathan says the station was constructed from the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Isaac Adongo’s share of the Common Fund and therefore, cannot be said to be an achievement of the NPP government.
4-storey of 1 bedroom of 24 flats for Ghana Immigration Service in Bawku
This housing facility, Abdallah contends, was initiated by the erstwhile Mahama administration and “So if you have completed it, that’s good news. But don’t let people think that you started it and you have completed it. We can’t allow you go away with it”
Pusiga Girls Model Primary and JHS Classroom Block
A school built by NGO, ActionAid Ghana, Abdallah argues, should not be included in the list of projects undertaken by the government of Ghana.
Community Day SHS
Community Day SHS constructed under the E-block project has been captured as an achievement of the current administration. But Abdallah says the school was initiated and completed by the erstwhile Mahama administration and the current government cannot lay claim to it.
Meanwhile, government has indicated about 67 projects were erroneously included in the tracker and have been pulled down after it attention was drawn to the anomaly.
74 others, which should have been included because they had been completed within the period, were left out and have since been included, it said further.
