Alagumgube, a development-oriented group has moved to support the maternity ward of the Upper East Regional Hospital.

The group on Monday, March 17, 2025 handed 10 mattresses, 10 pillows, 2 beds and 2 walkers to authorities of the regional hospital.

Monday’s presentation to the regional hospital is the group’s second major donation after it presented food items to the Navrongo Central Prisons in December 2024.

Alagumgube is a Gurune word that connotes unity and togetherness especially in addressing development challenges.

Having observed challenges with some pregnant women and mothers lying on the floor, the group decided to collaborate with the Bolgatanga Traditional Council, represented by the Acting President and Chief of Yarigabiisi, Naba Asalia Patrick Ayimbila, and the Chief of Gambibgo, Naba Sadick Akulmolga Anon-egre, to make the presentation.

Making the presentation on behalf of Alagumgube, Naba Sadick Akulmolga Anon-here, said the gesture is also to celebrate Ghana month and relieve some women who seek care at the facility.

“Alagumgube recognizes that the health of our community begins with the health of our mothers and children, and it is our hope that this donation will help improve the resources, equipment, and care available to those in need. Every mother deserves the best possible care, and every newborn deserves a healthy start in life.

This donation reflects our shared commitment to building a healthier and stronger future for our region and by way to give back to society. It is our prayer that this gesture will inspire others to join in supporting healthcare institutions and contribute to the collective well-being of our community. It is also our wish that this donation will be used for its purpose.” He said.
