Former Upper East Regional Minister, Prof. Ephraim Avea Nsoh says there is no way the two Bawas, Edward Bawa and Charles Bawa Dua could have beaten him in the just ended parliamentary primaries of the NDC in the Bongo Constituency if they had not engaged in foul play.
According to Prof. Avea Nsoh, he is not only more experienced than the two but has an unmatched track record in terms of developmental initiatives in the constituency that has made him a household name and endeared him to the electorate.
He argued that, but for the alleged inducement of the party’s delegates by the Bawas, he would have won the elections by a landslide margin.
“There’s no way the two Bawas could have beaten even if they gave them money and allowed them to just come out and vote. Just check their records; and what they told the delegates they can do and what the delegates know I can do, there’s no way that any of them can beat me,” he stated.
Despite his defeat in the parliamentary primaries, Prof. Avea insists he is the most preferred candidate in the area and will win the parliamentary election of the constituency in 2024 should he decide to contest.
He was, however, quick to indicate that he has no intention of running as an independent candidate and will support the NDC win both the parliamentary and presidential elections in the area in next year’s polls.
Prof. Avea Nsoh, who polled a paltry 75 votes as against the 509 and 535 votes obtained by his two contenders, accused them of inducing delegates in the primaries.
Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation, Prof. Avea said his contenders; Edward Bawa (incumbent MP for the area) and Charles Bawa Dua (NDC’s parliamentary candidate-elect) did not only spread malicious falsehoods against his person but also engaged in massive vote buying and as well kept delegates away from his access.
