ALLOTEY JACOBS- FORMER NDC CENTRAL REGIONAL CHAIRMAN

Former Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Allotey Jacobs has applauded the industrialization initiatives of the Akufo-Addo government in the Central Region.

According to Mr. Jacobs, the operationalization of the Ekumfi Juice factory and the commissioning of the Casa De Ropa potato factory under the Nana Addo government’s One District One Factory policy would provide numerous jobs to the people of Central Region.

Describing one of the factories as unique, he believes the diversification of the Casa De Ropa Potato factory can lead to establishment of other subsidiary factories that could address the unemployment problems of the Central Region. This, he said, brings hope to the people of the region.

“Initially, we took One District One Factory for a joke but we have realized that it can employ a whole Community. The Ekumfi Juice Factory alone employs about 600 workers,” he said

“The Casa de Ropa Factory is so unique to the extent that it can produce 21 industrial products meaning we can diversify the factory into other subsidiary factories that can produce a lot of products and materials that can help other industries survive. And therefore, this industry having the potency of producing 21 industrial items, then there is hope for Central Region,” Mr. Allotey Jacob added.

He further described the establishment of the two factories in the Central Region as one of the best things to have happened to the region adding that the region is “heading towards heaven.”

President Akufo-Addo on Friday, August 21, 2020 officially opened the US$8 million Ekumfi Juice Factory which was commenced in March 2018. The factory is estimated to create about 5,000 direct out-grower jobs within the Ekumfi Community and its environs.

The president also commissioned the Casa de Ropa potato factory. The two factories are under the One District One Factory initiative of the NPP government in partnership with the private sector.

Mr. Allotey Jacobs who was seen at the opening and commissioning ceremonies of the two factories by president Akufo-Addo admonished against politicization of such developmental initiatives stressing that policies that inures to the benefit of the people must be commended by all irrespective of the political party that implemented the policies.

Explaining his presence at the opening and commissioning ceremonies, the former Regional NDC Chairman said there is a need to support the government’s industrialization policy to ensure its successful implementation and the realization of its employment potentials.
