Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah has challenged Former President John Dramani Mahama to tell Ghanaians, at least, six specific mistakes he made when he was president of the country and how he intends to deal with similar issues if he is elected in the December polls.
Mr. Braimah stated that the former president must not generalize his responses to these questions. He therefore charged journalists to make these enquiries from the NDC flagbearer and insisted that he gives specific responses to them.
“President Mahama says he has learnt (from) his mistakes. He should tell Ghanaians at least 6 specific things he did or didn’t do which he now realizes were mistakes and how he will deal with similar situations if he gets elected. Dear journalists, ask him. And he must be specific in his answers. No general responses should be allowed,” Mr. Sulemana Braimah stated in a Facebook post on Sunday, August 16, 2020 seen by dreamzfmonline.com.
Former president Mahama has previously said on different occasions that he has learnt from his past mistakes and he is ready to make amends should he be given the opportunity to return to the presidency.
Mr. Mahama in 2018, after declaring his intentions to contest as Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress said in an address to the media and party members at Trade Fair in Accra that he has learnt from his defeat in the 2016 elections and promised not to fail Ghanaians should he be given another chance.
In a post on Facebook in October 2019, the NDC’s Flagbearer repeated same stating that his re-election bid is to lay a solid foundation for the development of Ghana.
But to some Civil Society Organizations, activist like Sulemana Braimah and political scientists, the former president’s reassurance is not enough hence their demand for a demonstration of how he intends to improve upon his governance style if he is elected in the 2020 elections.
