Robert Alibo, the parliamentary candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party, (NPP), in the Talensi Constituency, has requested that the residents of the Constituency pay attention to the candidate who has demonstrated years of consistency in helping to drive development in the area.

He argued that over the years, he has demonstrated his passion for the development of the constituency by pushing for some initiatives to be carried out throughout his career in the space of civil society work.

Mr. Alibo holds the view that the residents of the constituency should not pay attention to someone, who has just arrived because a vacancy exists and wants to lead and this is the time such a person is now making frantic efforts to show that he has the constituency at heart.

The candidate, a one-time NPP strong room representative, constituency chairman, polling station executive, electoral coordinator, and student leader, says within his party and the larger Talensi Constituency, he has always been around and serving in different capacities and hence is rightly placed to understand the developmental needs of the area.

He faces stiff opposition from Daniel Mahama who is the Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), a party that has dominated the constituency for nearly 30 years.

Speaking Monday on the State of Our Nation, Mr. Alibo, explained that he has demonstrated years of consistency and is better placed to champion the developmental agenda of the area.

“In the choice of a member of parliament, you need to look at the individuals involved. Do they have consistency, do they have quality, do they have trustworthiness? In the end, Talensis would choose a representative and you would want a worthy son or daughter to be that representative that when you send him, you are quite sure he will come back with feedback and it requires consistency.

I have always brought something to Talensi in every organization in which I worked. Alibo is an opportunity for Talensis to see a difference in how leaders work. I am hoping to go to parliament to serve. It shouldn’t be the case that there is a vacancy and you just come and want to fill that space.” He stated

Mr. Alibo has been pointing out many plans and initiatives he intends to carry out to propel the development of the area.

“I think that we need to have a database which I call the skills bank that spells out the human resource base and helps us to see the gaps to enhance the skills of the youth. We also need to pay attention to climate-smart agriculture. In education, we need to create model learning centers and I want to set the basis for the next MP to be challenged and these model learning centers will be created in the east, west, and central  parts of the constituency.” He indicated.
