The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Talensi Constituency has suspended its branch executive for leading protest against the President’s nomination of John Millim Naabwomya as District Chief Executive for the area.
Charles King Luu, a Brach Chairman of the Gorogo Polling Station led a group of supporters of the governing party to protest the nomination of John Millim, accusing the nominee of divisiveness, anti-party conduct and close association with the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the paramount chief of the Talensi Traditional Area.
At a press conference, King Luu labeled the now DCE for the area as “devoted” agent of the Tong-Ran, who has known ties with the NPP, arguing that his appointment will put the district under the control of the NPP.
The group had threatened to take “all necessary actions legally” against the nomination if President John Dramani Mahama failed to withdraw it.
But days after John Millim’s nomination was confirmed, the party has announced in statement that it has suspended the group’s leader King Luu from the party.
It added that King Luu has been relieved of his post as Brach Chairman.
His suspension and removal from his position form part of disciplinary proceedings instituted against him on the back of a petition, accusing him of misconduct for leading protest against the nomination of the DCE.
“The Talensi Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wish to inform the general public and party members that Mr. Charles King Luu has been suspended from the party with immediate effect.”
He added, “This decision follows disciplinary proceedings initiated against Mr. Luu, pursuant to a formal petition submitted by a party member concerning his recent involvement in activities deemed to be in direct conflict with decisions of the party.”
The party said it has asked him to return any of its property in his possession and further cautioned the public against dealing with him as a member or executive of the NDC.
