In the early hours of Saturday, a fire destroyed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) office in the Talensi Constituency, prompting the party to issue a strong denial about claims linking the incident to recent political appointments.

The blaze, which occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on April 5th, has led to widespread speculation on both traditional and social media platforms about possible political motivations. However, the NDC leadership has categorically rejected any connection between the fire and the recent nomination of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Talensi District Assembly.

“We wish to categorically state that the incident has no connection whatsoever with the nomination of our new District Chief Executive for the Talensi District Assembly,” the Constituency Communications Officer stated.

The party emphasized that contrary to circulating reports, there was no youth gathering or protest at the party office when the incident occurred. The statement added that Talensi NDC members have unanimously welcomed the President’s nomination of John Millim Nabwomya as the new DCE.

“Since the official announcement of the nomination, members of the party in Talensi have expressed unanimous gratitude to H.E. the President and congratulated Hon. John Millim Nabwomya on his nomination,” the statement continued.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and constituency leadership has filed an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service. An investigation is underway in collaboration with the Ghana National Fire Service. The party has urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the appropriate authorities.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the party’s support for the new DCE nominee: “We, the NDC in Talensi, have fully welcomed the President’s decision and pledge our full support to Hon. John Millim Nabwomya in his efforts to implement the President’s vision for the Talensi District.”
