The District Chief Executive for Talensi Thomas Duanab Wuni says he is disappointed with the outcome of the 2024 election in the Talensi Constituency particularly in the area where the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate hails from.
“He’s coming from a very large electoral area with 11 polling stations. Unfortunately, it didn’t show. So, that is where my disappointment came from,” he stated.
Speaking in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM, Duanab Wuni noted that candidates contesting the Talensi seat have historically won in areas they come from.
This, in his view, is a demonstration of the “goodwill” of the candidates’ home communities towards them (candidate).
But that was not case for Robert Alibo, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area in the just ended election.
“You know, we all, as candidates, we have always had this goodwill from the people you live with. I didn’t see that in his case. And that was rather unfortunate. They didn’t show him love”.
Of the 11 polling stations in the area Alibo hails from, Duanab observed that he lost in all.
He further noted that the party declined in votes in the presidential election, falling way behind its target ahead of the polls.
He, however, acknowledged that the NPP’s abysmal performance in the election was nationwide as he suggested the party’s campaign strategy may have been weak.
