Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine has rubbished assertions that the NPP parliamentary candidate, Mathew Silas Amoah is on a par with him in terms of their contributions to development of the area.
Speaking to journalists after making a donation to the Bolgatanga East District Health Directorate, Dr. Ayine said his record in the area as MP is unmatched.
He argued that almost every significant development witnessed in the constituency is creditable to him and his party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney-General, who said he constructed over 60 boreholes to provide potable water to constituents and facilitated the building of a community Day SHS, wondered how Silas Amoah whose only achievement in the area, he claimed, is the construction of 2 boreholes would be comparable to his.
“If you do 2 boreholes, compare to someone who has done over 60 boreholes and you go and sit on radio and say that you are performing, what kind of performance is that?” he questioned.
He noted that development is the obligation of the executive government whose party’s ticket Silas Amoah is running on and thus, he should not be boasting if he is making up for the failures of his party government.
“Your government is in power, they have done boreholes that they cannot even complete, the NPP government dug boreholes around this constituency, they have not fixed pumps, and the communities are not even accessing water”.
Mathew Silas Amoah, on different platforms, boasted about the impact he has made in the area through his philanthropic activities.
He claimed his contributions to development in the constituency were so evident that constituents were comparing his track record to that of the MP for the area, a situation, he said, compelled the MP to attempt to step up his game.
But for Dr. Ayine, such assertion is ridiculous.
