Old students of Sandema Senior High School in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region has bagged GH¢5,000 after beating heavy weights in the Upper East Old Skuuls Reunion competition. Old students of Bolgatanga Technical Institute and Zuarungu Senior High School emerged as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.
The two-day event which started on December 31, 2021 and ended on 2nd January, 2022 saw old students of Sandema Senior High, Zamse Senior High/Technical School, Bolgatanga Senior High School, Bolgatanga Technical Institute, Zuarungu Senior High School, Kongo Senior High, Navrongo Senior High and Notre Dame all compete for the prize package of GH¢5,000.
Other schools that equally took part in the competition are, Gowrie Senior High/Technical School, Kusanaba SHS, Bolga Girls, with old students of Tamale Senior High and Northern School of Business combining to participate.
This year’s Upper East Old Skuuls Reunion, which was headlined by Adonko Next level Energy Drink and supported by Guinness Ghana and Fan Yogo, is the 4th edition of the competition. The Maiden edition saw Zamestech receive GH¢500 as winners with Bolgatanga Senior High School winning the second edition and receiving a price package of GH¢1,000.
Sandema Senior High School’s victory means that no old students union of the various schools has won the competition twice. The third edition had Bolgatanga Technical Institute receive GH¢3,000 after beating Zamestech on penalties to win the trophy.
The 2021 edition of the reunion had more fun games than the previous editions including Egg on spoon race, sack race, cards match, 100m race, volleyball, tag of peace and football.
Organizers have, however, urged old students of the various schools in the region to embrace the annual fun games and competition in a bid to make it livelier and more competitive. According to them, the annual competition serves as a platform for old students of second circle institutions to reunite and rekindle old bonds.
