ROBERT ALIBO- NPP PARLIMANTARY ASPIRANT, TALENSI

Robert Ayinenaba Alibo, a parliamentary candidate aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that areas such as job creation, education and climate change activities will take center stage if given the nod to represent the constituency in parliament.

Mr. Alibo, who seeking the NPP’s ticket to contest the 2024 Election in the Talensi Constituency, has a big hurdle to cross in the party parliamentary primaries as he faces competition from two familiar faces.

With the parliamentary primaries set for December 2, 2023, Mr.  Alibo, who lies on the number 1 spot after balloting, says the establishment of jobs bank, education and climate smart activities hoping to reduce the impact of climate change will take center stage when given the nod as a member of parliament.

Speaking Thursday on the State of Our Nation, Mr. Alibo says he will pay attention to these areas as they are major development indicators.

The establishment of the skills bank will coordinate employment opportunities and make it easy for people to have  access to job opportunities and for information.

“A skills bank will be looking at the various skills levels and talents of our people. So that if, for instance I am MP and a colleague who works in another organization needs a certain type of an accountant, how do I get that information? It becomes very difficult. So if I have a skills bank, you can tap into it, put the category skills and give them the lead to apply for such a job. And they probably will be competitive in doing so,” he stated.

He indicated his commitment to improving the quality of education and encouraging sustainable environmental practices to tackle climate change in the area if given the mandate.

“Our people are basically farmers and if you look, what we are confronted with these is the climate change effects. There will be a need to focus on climate smart agriculture with a focus on natural regeneration and I’m so passionate about natural regeneration because we have made several attempts at growing trees, plant seedlings, transplant them, water them and they failed”.

He added, “I’m passionate about education and if you look at the educational infrastructure in my district, it will be compared to places that children are given the best of education in Accra and other places. We probably will not get to that level but we need to do something about it and for me, my focus is to look at reinvigorating teaching and learning”.
