Presidential Staffer, Charles Bissue has debunked reports that he bit the fingers of Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker leading to an alleged scuffle between the two at a workshop for regional executives and parliamentary candidates.
This follows reports of a physical confrontation which occurred between the two leading members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) at a hotel in Takoradi during a workshop for regional executives and parliamentary candidates.
Mr. Bissue, amid a misunderstanding between the two, reportedly grabbed the hands of Mr. Duker and bit his finger several times resulting in an exchange of punches which left Mr. Charles Bissue with swollen face whiles Mr. Duker sustained wounds on his finger.
Pictures have since emerged on social media of Mr. Bissue with swollen face and bloodied eye.
But refuting the reports in a statement, Mr. Bissue who is also the Western Regional Secretary of the party described the reports as gross misrepresentation of what actually transpired at the workshop. He stated firmly that he neither bit the MP’s finger nor physically attacked him as was reported. Mr. Bissue stated further that he was not the “aggressor in this situation” adding that he has no trait of being aggressive.
“The reportage is a gross misrepresentation of what transpired at the Party’s meeting on Monday, I wish to assure all that I neither physically attacked nor bit the finger of the MP for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, Hon. Mireku Duker as widely reported. I was not the aggressor in this situation, as it is not in my nature, as anyone who knows me could attest,” he said.
While assuring the general public of his resolve to resort to the party’s Grievance and Disciplinary Committee for the matter to be dealt with, the Presidential Staffer said though he would have wished to make public his “side of the unfortunate incident,” his decision to resort to the party’s structure for a resolution is borne out of his respect for the party’s constitution and his unflinching loyalty and service to the party which is seeking a re-election.
“I am by this medium assuring all and sundry that, I will rather resort to the structures in the NPP to resolve this matter amicably. Much as I would like to publicize my side of the unfortunate incident, I am guided by the fact that the NPP has an election to prosecute and anything that distracts from the telling of the unparalleled achievements of this government will be a great disservice to the country and the Party that I have faithfully served. I am guided, as always, not by self-interest but by greater ideals and loyalties, and a firm belief that justice serves those who serve others, and that truth and honesty always prevails,” he stated.
Mr. Bissue therefore served notice that “I will not be issuing any further statement and I trust I the unflinching resolve of the party to act expeditiously and fairly to all parties involved.”
