Upper East Regional Minister Tangoba Abayage has taken a swipe at flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress John Dramani over his re-election bid.
Ms. Tangoba Abayage said in an interview on Bolgatanga based A1 Radio that the former President has not given justifiable reasons for wanting to be given another chance to govern the country.
“I don’t know what he has left at the Jubilee house that he wants to go back and pick. He had the opportunity, he has been President before, we know him. So it is about him. Presidency is not WAEC or NOVDEC for you to want to resit after you have failed. He has failed,” she said.
She stressed that the inclusion of Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to the ‘John ticket’ does not cleanse the former President or insulate him from the failure of his tenure as President.
According to her, the campaign should focus on the flagbearer and not the running mate.
“We maintain that it is about him and not her. So adding Professor Naana won’t change anything,” she added.
While acknowledging the visit of NDC running mate to the Upper East region which will commence on Friday August 14, 2020, she subscribed to having a friendly private engagement with “my colleague woman for the purpose of our gender and the need for women leadership.”
