Presentation Brothers’ School Complex, an international Catholic mission basic school in the Bolgatanga Municipality has held its maiden graduation ceremony a year after scoring the best grade in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Upper East Region.
Set up in 2018 at Sokabiisi, the school is among the numerous Presentation Brothers’ mission schools spread across the globe with the aim of providing holistic education to especially the less privileged in society and leading them in God’s way by instilling in them Christian values and principles.
It currently has a pupil population of 600 from pre-school to Junior High School.
The ceremony, which was held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the school premises, saw the graduation of 39 pupils from pre-school level to the basic level and 56 from basic to the Junior High School level.
The graduands were presented with certificates, signifying a completion of their education journey at those levels.
Chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive for Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga, the event saw learners thrill audience with cultural display, drama, choreography, modelling, poetry recitals among host of other activities.
In his welcome address, the school’s headmaster, Rev. Godfred Beteryel said it is on course to aiding children unearth their God given talents and shaping them to become socially fit in the future.
“Ours has always been a holistic approach to child education. An approach that allows for the exploitation of the gifts of God inherent in every child and according to His Will,” he stated.
Rev. Beteryel, speaking to Dreamz News on the side-lines of the event, disclosed that the school’s first batch of BECE candidates, who sat the examination in 2021, all excelled, with its second batch scoring the best grade in the Upper East Region in 2022.
While urging parents to take keen interest in their children’s education, he indicated that the school has expanded its infrastructure and is ready to admit more pupils in the coming academic year.
“2021, our first batch of learners sat the BECE exams and the results were good. We had aggregate 10 as our best. But in 2022, we got aggregate 6. That was the best in the region. But we got 100 percent pass in both years. This year, the third batch is 54 in number and we hoping for the best. We are going to admit more and projecting the population to hit 900”.
On his part, Mr. Asanga underscored the importance of the event, stating that it does symbolise the pupils’ progression not only in their education but in life.
Vice-Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), Daniel Ayong entreated the pupils to be inquisitive in class and aspire to become great in society.
He further entreated parents and guardians to provide the needs of their wards as well as pay their fees on time to enable the smooth running of the school.
Some of the graduands, who spoke to Dreamz News, expressed gratitude to the school for guiding them in their academic journey while appealing to parents to prioritise the education of their wards.
