The Ghana Police Service have blamed the death of two officers in Binduri on a robbery attack.
In a press release dated April 13, 2025, the police said their, “preliminary investigation has established that the deceased officers were in mufti (plain clothes) and on their private motorbike traveling from Bongo to Binduri when they were attacked and their motorbike taken away”.
The incident reportedly occurred at Poyamirea, a town outskirt of Binduri.
The release added that the police have launched a manhunt to “identify and arrest robbers, who shot (the) two policemen”.
This is contrary to initial reports that linked the killing of the two officers to the Bawku conflict.
Early media reports had claimed that the two officers were shot dead by bandits affiliated to one of the feuding factions.
But the police’s release countered those reports.
