ROBERT A-ANSIM ABOTIYIRE, A PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT AT THE UPPER EAST REGIONAL HOSPITAL,

It has emerged that women are outliving men because they are more likely to visit health facilities early for medical care whereas most men report late with complications.

Robert A-ansim Abotiyire, a Physician Assistant at the Upper East Regional Hospital, explained that many men delay attending health facilities despite experiencing some symptoms.

This delay, he disclosed results in their conditions deteriorating with many of the men losing their lives.

He is of the view that women are more conscious of their health and are not largely involved in risky behaviors that endanger their lives and compromise their health.

“In recent times, our women are living longer than us, the men. Because every little thing, they (women) are rushing to the hospital. They are not going to wait till when they cannot wake up. If you come to the hospital, you see that women are more than men because they are more conscious than men,” he sated.

Speaking Monday on the State of Our Nation, Mr. Abotiyire, urged men to equally endeavor to seek early medical care to avert any health complications.

“In any case, they don’t live risky lifestyles like men do. If you come to the male medical, you will see how the place is. They come with chronic cases. So, we should not always wait,” he admonished.

He further called on members of the public to regularly run basic health checks.
