A student of the Paga Senior High School has been reportedly battered and left with severe injuries after he was falsely accused of stealing a ram.
On Wednesday in the border town, a raging mob swamped the defenceless male student and unleashed terror on him.
Armed with objects of different shapes and sizes, the mob was said to have repeatedly hit him until he passed out over accusation that he stole a ram.
According to Senyalah Castro, a journalist based in the area, it took the bravery of a teacher of the school to save the student from being lynched.
The alarm that was raised resulting in his attack has been found to be false, the journalist said in a Facebook post.
Accusing fingers have been pointing at a Parent Association Chairman of the school. He is said to have raised the false alarm and egged on the mob to attack the victim.
The victim, who sustained life threatening injuries, has since regained consciousness and been hospitalized while the matter is being investigated by the police.
