The Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has place a 10,000 bounty on the killers of a businessman at Juapong in North Tongu District of the Voltage region.

The businessman, Samuel Nyamador was shot dead by unknown persons on Tuesday while on his way home from work in the company of his wife. Three unidentified men reportedly confronted the couple while they were on their way home and shot the man.

The youth of the area on Wednesday massed up in protest against the police in the area. They accused the police of failing to respond to distress calls when the incident occurred.

The police however were able to restore calm to the area and has since launched a manhunt for the perpetrators of the heinous crime.

In his bid to speedy up the tracking down of the unidentified assailants, Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa who had earlier visited the family of the deceased to commiserate with them stated that he has communicated to the police administration in the region of his decision to personally donate ten thousand Ghana Cedis as bounty for people who would provide credible information that would lead to the arrest of the criminals.

“I have just spoken to both the Volta Regional Police Commander and the Juapong Police Commander to inform them of my decision to make available a personal donation of GHS10,000.00 as bounty for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the fiendish killers of Sonny,” the legislator announced in a post on Facebook.

This is the second time that an incident of this nature has occurred in the region within this year. On March 1, 2020 an assemblyman for Sogakope South Electoral Area, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli was shot dead by unknown assailants in his residence at midnight . A bounty of 25 000 cedis was later announced on the heads of the perpetrators by former president Jerry John Rawlings. This was in addition to earlier bounty of 10,000 announced by the South Tongu District Assembly for the heads of the criminals.

The police has recently announced the arrest of all the suspected murderers of the late assemblyman.
