Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, has declared that Government’s model Senior High Schools which include V-blocks are better than the Community Senior High Schools (E-block), that the erstwhile National Democratic Congress administration built, stressing that whereas the V-blocks have 24 classrooms, the E-blocks have only 12.

He made the point Saturday 26th September, 2020 at Awaso, in the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency of the Western North Region when President Akufo-Addo visited one of the sites to inspect ongoing work.

“When you compare it (model schools) with the E-block, the E-block has only twelve (12) classrooms, and this V-Block [in the model schools] have twenty-four classrooms, and there are room for expansions,” he pointed out.

Explaining the scope of works to the President, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh stated that the model schools have all that is required in a school for curricular and extracurricular activities.

“…This school is being called a model school because that is how a school should look like, with the full complement of activities, from playing fields, to administrative buildings, to libraries, and it is happening under your watch,” he said to President Akufo-Addo.

The nine models schools, seven of which are being built from scratch and two being the  upgrading of existing  schools  are located at Kwadaso, Dabaa, Awaso, Abomosu, Akrodie, Weija and Kpasenkpe. These schools will focus on the Sciences.

The rest are a Creative Arts Schools at Kwadaso, in Kumasi, and a Senior High Technical School at Dabaa…

Dr. Opoku-Prempeh revealed that 35 more of the model schools are going to be constructed.
