Two groups known as the Samira Ladies and the ladies wing of the Rapid Response Unit for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (RRU4DMB), have jointly condemned comments they believe are aimed at smearing the personality of the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, wife of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana.
According to the groups, there is the need for peaceful co-existence before, during and after every elections hence the need to ensure that individuals and groups engage in an issue based campaign.
At a press conference addressed by the convenor of the RRU4DMB Ladies Caucus, Liza Abagrey in Bongo in the Upper East Region, the groups condemn recent posts on Facebook by a member of the Communication team of the NDC, Beatrice Annangfio suggesting Samira Bawumia has more expertise in applying make up than other life skills.
Madam Annangfio, has since deleted the said post that went viral.
“We are by this presser sending a strong warning to Madam Beatrice Anningfio to desist from attacking the unblemished personality of the second lady, H.E Hajia Samira Bawumia. Madam Beatrice, a pocket lawyer, in her bit to erode the second Lady’s unmatched personality is seen writing unprintable words against the second lady of the country, a symbol of naked jealousy,” the group said.
On her behalf, they issued an apology and appealed to the Second Lady to forgive her as they called on Samira Bawumia and the husband to continue what they say is good work properly place Ghana in a better place globally.
“We condemn Beatrice’s act of using vulgar language in our body politics. On behalf of Beatrice we want to apologize to our dynamic, beautiful and brainy second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia to forgive madam Beatrice because all she’s seeking for is attention. As intelligent as she is we will urge her and her husband to keep doing what they’re doing in putting Ghana on the world map positively”.
