The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been stunned in the Upper East Region after it failed to win a single seat in the region. The Binduri Constituency seat, the only seat it is holding in Parliament from the Upper East region has been snatched while its hopes of taking some seats from the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) have also been dimmed.

The NDC currently holds 14 of the region’s 15 seats in Parliament, leaving just one for the NPP. The governing party was hoping to increase the number of seats it holds in the region and had put forward some of its bigguns including the CEO of the Ghana’s Buffer Stock Company Hanan Abdul-Wahab, the Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority Thomas Kofi Alonsi, Abdallah Otito Achuliwor and former Deputy Attorney-General Joseph Dindiok Kpemka to deliver the seats for it.

But all its candidates have failed to win in their respective constituencies, succumbing to the tsunami sweeping through the entire country.

The NDC has now taken hold of all the seats in the region in an unprecedented victory in both presidential and parliamentary elections.

Here are the parliamentary results for the various constituencies in the Upper East Region
