Contrary to low public ratings of the Akufo-Addo-led government’s Performance in office, Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described president Akufo-Addo as the best performing leader Ghana has ever had.

According to Mathew Opoku-Prempeh, not even the country’s first president Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who has been hailed for his visionary leadership and monumental developmental projects, has a record better than the current president in driving the country’s development.

“From 1957 to date, we haven’t had any president who has developed Ghana more than Akufo-Addo. I said from 1957 to now, whether it is your Kwame Krumah, there’s no president who led the progress of the country than Akufo-Addo,” he stated.

Dr. Opoku-Prempeh said this during his unveiling as running-mate to the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

He asserted that the living conditions of Ghanaians have improved significantly under the administration and as a result, the country has, for the first time under a regime, not experienced extreme and pervasive hunger.

He, therefore, wants Ghanaians to entrust the affairs of the country in the hands of Akufo-Addo’s Vice-President to continue the implementation of policies and programmes that to uplift their living standards.

He also refuted assertions that the country is facing power crisis.

He insisted that the frequent power outages were occasioned by faulty plants and the need to maintain same.
