Parliamentary candidate aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Bolgatanga East Constituency, Mathew Silas Amoah says he is unfazed about people questioning his source of wealth.

Speaking in an interview on Dreamz FM on Sunday, Silas Amoah said it is a common phenomenon to have people questioning others’ source of riches especially in the Northern part of the country thus, he is unperturbed.

He asserted that because of the high levels and widespread nature of poverty in that part of the country, most of the people have become comfortable with being poor and are likely to raise eyebrows about others who are successful.

He said paying heed to such suspicions will discourage others from striving to better their lots.

“That one is the language of the North. When I say it’s the language of the North, nobody questions the source of poverty unless you make it and if you fear that tag, trust me (you will not make it),” he stated.

“Just name any one rich person in Bolga or Zuarungu that they haven’t tagged something to the person. It’s a mentality, they are making us feel poverty is ok. You can live in abject poverty, the youth should feel lazy but once you strived to make, no”.

Silas Amoah took the Bolgatanga East Constituency by storm, undertaking huge developmental projects in furtherance of what he said is his quest to better the lives of his people.

His heavy spending in undertaking projects in the area got the attention of many including the Member of Parliament for the Constituency and his likely contender in the 2024 Elections, who subtly questioned his source of wealth and asked him to spend wisely.

But Silas Amoah urged those raising suspicious about his source of riches to report him to the appropriate authorities if they believe he is involved in anything illegal.
