The Northern Electricity Distribution Company, NEDCO, in the Upper East Region is cautioning electricity consumers against the activities of fraudsters.

Customer Service Officer of NEDCO in the region, Alimata Bamie, revealed that there is an influx of fake meters being used to deceive the public.

Speaking Wednesday on the State of Our Nation, she noted that the said fake meters are said to come with a VRA logo as she urges members of the public to assist in reporting such persons.

Aside the issue of the fake meters, she is also urging electricity consumers to desist from making any form of payment via mobile money with the hope of obtaining a meter.

“I’ve realized that there is an influx meters in the system. It’s just an empty case with a VRA logo on it. We’ve seen that those meters are coming to our operational area. We want to appeal customers that these are fakers and don’t capture any readings. If we get you (with such meters), we will let the police pick you up,” She warned.

“Don’t pay any money into any momo account for a meter. We don’t have any momo account number that customers will pay for meters through it. What we have is code. Be wary of fraudsters”.

She equally disclosed that NEDCO in the Upper East Region will from Monday, June 24, 2024 embark on a mass revenue mobilization exercise which will lead to those owing a month or more being disconnected.
