The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially launched its Talensi constituency campaign, as the party gears up for the December 2024 polls. The launch, which took place on October 3, 2024, at Winkogo, was led by National Chairman Johnson Aseidu Nketiah.
In his address, Mr Nketiah expressed delight at the unity among NDC members in the constituency, which has been demonstrated through their support for the Parliamentary Candidate Daniel Mahama. He expressed confidence that the people of Talensi would join the rest of the country in electing John Mahama as President and Daniel Mahama as Member of Parliament.
He, however, cautioned members against being swayed by the opposition’s tactics, urging them to remain steadfast in their support for the NDC. He assured the chief of Winkogo, Naba Moses Aganzoa, that “An NDC administration under John Mahama would prioritize the developmental aspirations of the constituency”.
Daniel Mahama, the Parliamentary Candidate, highlighted his personal initiatives and achievements, focusing on education, healthcare, water provision, and youth empowerment.
He noted that he had provided resources to secondary schools in the area, supported Basic Education Certifucate Examination (BECE) candidates, sponsored successful health screenings and surgeries, and implemented support schemes for the youth.
Mahama reiterated his commitment to leveraging the NDC’s market improvement policy to construct a starlight market in Winkogo and upgrade existing markets. He also promised to tar the Talensi Eastern Corridor Road, linking the Bolga-Bawku road through Sheaga to Duusi, improve inner city roads, complete and convert the Yameriga E-Block to a training college, establish a police post in Winkogo, and connect remaining communities to the electricity grid.
Other speakers, including the incumbent MP B. T. Baba, Malik Basintale, and former Parliamentary Aspirants, urged attendees to work hard to retain the Talensi Parliamentary seat and return the NDC to power.
The event drew a massive attendance, with notable party stalwarts, including National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, Regional Chairman, Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba, and Members of Parliament, Dominic Akuritenga Ayine and Mark Kurt Nawane.
