The Vice Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has subtly taken a swipe at the ruling New Patriotic Party over claims of massive infrastructural achievements by government.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang intimated that unlike the governing party that claims non-existent projects as their achievements, the previous NDC’s government have a credible track record that makes the party trustworthy. She added that the NDC’s track record in infrastructural development is unmatched as a result, the party has no reason to claim non-existent projects and projects initiated by other governments as its achievements

Speaking at the manifesto launch of the party at University for Professional Studies, Accra on Monday, September 7, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang asserted that the track record of the party makes their manifesto a credible document which Ghanaians can trust to meet their needs and aspirations.

“Our manifesto is well thought out. What makes it credible is that we have a dependable track record to back it up. The people believe in us because if it is about infrastructure; healthcare facilities, schools, roads, our track touts above that of anyone. We have no reason to falsely lay claims to projects initiated by another government and even forge non-existent ones,” she said.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang further stated that Ghanaians have faith in the NDC and its flagbearer to deliver on their campaign promises because the party had demonstrated in government its commitment to judiciously use revenue and loans contracted to undertake developmental projects and policies that inured to the benefit of the Ghanaian people.

“Ghanaians believe us because there is evidence of what we can do and what we do with the revenues and loans we contract,” she stated.

On Tuesday, August 18, 2020, the Vice President of the republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia announced at a town hall meeting and results fair that the Akufo-Addo’s government has undertaken over 17, 000 infrastructural projects since it assumed power in 2017.

Dr. Bawumia again announced a website on which all the infrastructural projects of the NPP government are enlisted.

The opposition NDC, however, downplayed the achievements of the NPP stating that it had a better track record in infrastructure development while accusing the NPP government of taking credit for projects its government undertook during its tenure in office. The party also accused the Nana Addo government of labelling non-existent projects as its achievements.

The government later admitted that some of the projects enlisted in the government infrastructural projects’ website are non-existent but it insisted that the few non-existent projects do not discredit its achievements in infrastructural development.
