The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) parliamentary candidate for Navrongo Central Constituency Alhaji Abdallah Otito Achuliwor has pledged to improve the living conditions of the people and propel the development of the area if elected Member of Parliament.
Even before he is given the nod, Alhaji Achuliwor said he has already initiated projects to better the lives of the constituents.
He said he has, through his efforts, ensured the reactivation of a stalled electrification project and is hopeful that, by December, every community will be connected to the national grid.
“I have already started rolling out some of the plans. I have managed to reactivate contracts that were given for electrification project which were stalled because there was no equipment or money,” he stated in an interview on Breakfast Today on Dreamz FM.
“For the electricity, I’m certain that even before December, the deficit will be properly taken care of. We will provide every community with electricity”.
Provision of potable water, he said, is top of his priorities and to that end, he has already initiated the construction of 35 boreholes in each of the electoral areas expected to be completed before the general elections.
He intends to provide about 90 boreholes in the constituency before the end of his first tenure if he is given the mandate.
“I have started rolling out the construction of 35 boreholes yesterday and so within the next few months, every electoral will get one before the December elections. And after the December elections, we will now target more needy areas. The plan is to give 90 boreholes to the constituency before I exit parliament in the first term”.
Alhaji Otito also intends to woo investors to the area to set up a rice factory.
This, he believes, will add value to the rice produced there and boost production and in turn, increase farmers’ income and create job opportunities.
It is also the candidate’s pledge to empower young people in the area and provide them employment opportunities as their representative in parliament.
Alhaji Otito noted the poor educational outcomes in the area and indicated that he will motivate teachers and set up a fund to provide teaching and materials to turn the situation around.
He further pledged to be different from the typical Ghanaian politician and not turn his back at his people when he finally gets the nod.
