Former District Chief Executive for Talensi, Christopher Boatbil believes pressure group, Narrative Changers was incited against his reign as DCE for the area.
Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, Boatbil said although the developmental concerns the group raised at the time were genuine, its criticisms against him were preposterous and orchestrated.
Narrative Changers, known for its development advocacy, decried the state of roads in the district at the time and demanded that they be fixed.
But Boatbil said the group unfairly blamed him for the situation when it knew that the assembly he headed did not have the financial muscles to undertake such capital intensive projects.
“You know I came here sometime ago and I was telling you that we had a group called narrative changers? Are they that visible now? They’re not as visible as they were. And almost everyday, Talensi roads. District assemblies, how much do we have that we can construct roads? But I believe there were people not the narrative changers who were pushing their agenda,” he stated.
He claimed although there were other districts with similar developmental challenges, the group focused its attention on his and constantly called him out for failing to resolve the issues.
“There were genuine issues they were raising, I’m not disputing that. But the question is that was Talensi the only place having that problem? I don’t want to mention a particular district. When I was about leaving office, I got there and the hospital, there were stones on top and Narrative changers didn’t see that?” he questioned.
He believes the reproval of his leadership was orchestrated by faceless individuals who were bent on ousting him from office.
“That’s why I’m saying that Narrative may not have been formed purposely to go against me. But other people with some interest can be pushing through them”.
Boatbil, though declined to rate his performance in office, said many from the various political divides have applauded him for his stewardship.
