Johnson Ayine, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP’s) Communication Team has extolled the NPP’s running-mate, Mathew Opoku-Prempeh affectionately called Napo as a better candidate for the office of a Vice-President than the running-mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Johnson Ayine, aside from his vast experience in the political space, Dr. Opoku-Prempeh has an outstanding record of achievements in his public service as compared to that of Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

The NDC’s running-mate, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang served as Minister of Education from 2013 to 2017 and was immediately succeeded by Dr. Opoku-Prempeh, who played same role until 2021.

Johnson Ayine, citing the tenures of the two former ministers at the Education Ministry, argued that the NPP’s vice-presidential candidate outperformed his predecessor.

He argued that Dr. Opoku-Prempeh, during his 4-year stint at the ministry, led numerous reforms and the implementation of policies that have significantly improved the quality of education in the country.

“The running-mate of the NDC and Napo have served in one ministry. Napo succesded her. Napo outperformed the lady. You can’t run away from that fact,”  he stated.

Ayine rejected the arrogant tag on the NPP’s running-mate, stating that such descriptions are unfair.
