The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Isaac Adongo seems to be turning his attention to the Vice-Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mathew Opoku-Prempeh after years of being a thorn in the flesh of Mr. Opoku-Prempeh’s now boss and predecessor Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Addressing supporters at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga after filing his nomination on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, the NDC MP spent some time, eviscerating his colleague in Parliament for his public utterances.
He said Mr. Opoku-Prempeh, affectionately referred to as Napo, has failed to communicate a single policy idea of the NPP in all his campaign rallies. Rather, he has been making utterances, the MP deemed, ludicrous on platforms meant to propagate the NPP and its presidential candidate.
“I want this message to go directly to my brother Napo. You hear what I said? One rally, one bomb. One rally, one stupidness. Tell the people what you can do for them”.
He continued, “You are fighting against dead people. You are fighting against your own selves. And you have so far not delivered any policy message”.
Isaac Adongo said this in reference to some controversial comments Mr. Opoku-Prempeh made that have dominated public discourse since his nomination.
In one of such instances, the NPP vice presidential candidate, in an attempt to belittle the main opposition party’s 24-hour economy policy proposals, claimed “even God who created the world sleeps during the night”.
He had also made headlines when he stated, during his unveiling as the running-mate, that no president, not even the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, had developed the country like the current President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Many took issues with the manner in which he addressed the revered first President of the country and lambasted him, forcing him to render an apology.
He, however, continued making utterances, political experts say, are not only ridiculous but are injurious to the chances of his party in the upcoming elections.
