Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, the running mate to the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress has called for the support of women in the country to reciprocate the gesture of the former President in choosing her a woman as running mate.
Former President John Dramani Mahama recently settled on the former Vice Chancellor of the Cape Coast who also served under him as education minister.
The decision to nominate a female running mate has been described by many as a step that brings to the fore gender related fortune and a clean sheet on the measure of integrity.
Addressing the women minority caucus in parliament and a group of head porters at her residence, Professor Naana Opoku Agyemang charged women in the country to convert the enthusiasm that greeted her nomination into victory for the opposition National Democratic Congress.
“The enthusiasm that has greeted the decision of his excellency John Dramani Mahama is not lost on any of us. I urge that we turn that enthusiasm into reality,” she said.
She stated further that “We all know we can. Yes we can.”
In a direct message to the head porters popularly known as kayaye’s to hold in pride their dignity, the female Vice Presidential candidate said “I want you to know that your name is not Kayayei, you have proper names, you deserve the respect like anybody else, don’t let anybody to disrespect you.”
