Atinga Joel Nsobila, a resident of Bolgatanga has explained why he has taken upon himself to break the Guinness World Record for the longest barbecue marathon by an individual.
Atinga, who is a graduate of the CK-Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, is set to grill khebab for 90 minutes to break the Guinness World Record for the longest barbecue marathon by an individual.
The youngster is scheduled to begin his aim for a spot in the world records book on April 11 to April 14, 2024 by which he would have surpassed the current record and set a new one.
The present record was set by an American at 80 minutes in 2014.
Atinga Joel targets to break this decade long record and he believes doing so will project his home region, the Upper East Region.
Speaking in an interview on State of Our Nation on Dreamz FM, he said although the event will not take place in the Upper East Region, his identity as an indigene will put the name of the region on the globe.
“I think Guinness world record is an opportunity for me to let others know who we are, that’s the people of Upper East Region. It is to market ourselves and place ourselves at the top,” he stated.
He appealed for support to enable him sail through as he revealed that kebab prepared during the attempt would be distributed among those present and the less privileged.
“It will take a toll on us financially. So we are still appealing to people for support. We need sponsorship. If you want to partner with us too, you can come on board. So these are ways and means we are trying to get funds to support it. I am basically in the region to officially inform the people about my attempt”.
